Dassel Man Dies in Apparent Gas Explosion Saturday Morning

Dassel, MN -

A Dassel man is dead after an apparent gas explosion Saturday morning. The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Roger Kloeppner.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office, crews responded to a report of an explosion at a home on the 400 block of 2nd Street Northeast around 10:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing

The Dassel Fire Department, Meeker County Sheriff's Office, and Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the incident. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.

Kloeppner was the only person in the home at the time of the explosion. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The explosion caused significant damage to the home, which is owned by Kloeppner's son. The home is currently uninhabitable.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 320-693-5400.
